11 Things That Make Me Go AAAAAAAHHH!!!

A list of 11 things that bother me when I’m overstimulated

Some people like living because of all the experiences that they get to do while being a human but for me, it’s honestly a hassle. Don’t get me wrong, living can be enjoyable but when I’ve run out of energy or am feeling sensitive, it’s not the best experience.

Below are 11 things that bother me when I’m overstimulated and how they affect me.

  1. Uncomfortable fabrics. I tend to like polyester the most, but if it’s not soft enough to my liking, that’s definitely going to be a problem. For this reason I tend to never ever wear jeans or clothing made with 100% cotton because they feel stiff to me and feeling that way gets old really fast to me anyway.
  2. When the lights aren’t warm enough for my liking and I have to stay in that space/setting for over 20 minutes. Because of this, I tend not to enjoy shopping for too long. Sometimes I do push myself to continue shopping because I’m having fun but it usually ends up exhausting me in the end.
  3. When I am in charge of translating between two or more people and my social battery is running low or nonexistent. I feel really angry and tense and feel upset that I’m the only who’s available to translate. This happens mainly because I’m still learning about boundaries and making them. I’m sure if I made more boundaries, that I wouldn’t have to translate as much- especially when I have no energy.
  4. Sounds. All sounds. Usually, this means I’m really overwhelmed and have just about had it because I adore music and asmr. When this happens I need noise cancelling headphones and a long long nap.
  5. Feeling my skin and body overall. When I have energy and feel great, it’s still bothersome but not as much as when I am stressed out or tired.
  6. Showers. It’s so much work and it means touching and drying my body, which requires energy and time.
  7. Being on my phone or staring at a screen for long periods of time. It strains my eyes and becomes annoying to the point of feeling frustrated.
  8. Talking. I can talk but if I have to talk for a long time, that pisses me off. If I must talk for long periods, I’d rather do it through text then because I get overwhelmed hearing my own voice over and over, plus exerting the energy it takes to talk.
  9. Focusing for long periods of time. Be it listening to a conversation, coming up with a writing idea for a post, watching a T.V. show or movie, etc. Some people can handle doing those things for long periods of time but I am most certainly not one of them.
  10. Certain textures of food which I completely avoid eating for that reason. For example: Raw tomatoes, pickles, and avocados.
  11. Sweating. Besides feeling my heart race so fast if I exercise (it scares me), I hate sweating. It smells, it’s sticky, and it reminds me I need to shower- which as I mentioned, is a pain.
