How I started, Why I started, and How it’s Going

I don’t know about you but I’m not so good at playing any instrument. Or so, I thought…
I thought I would always be terrible.
But when the pandemic hit us hard, I was home for super long periods of time so I decided I wanted to at least give playing an instrument a try. So I thought about it and decided one instrument I could learn how to play was the harmonica.
I have always loved the sound of harmonicas.
Especially when John Lennon would perform “Little Child” with The Beatles! Or also in “Please Please Me” by The Beatles!
So I researched and realized I would need a harmonica in the key of C to play most of the songs I wanted to learn, so that’s the one I bought.
I live in an apartment, so the beginning of me learning must have really annoyed my neighbors! Who knows! But I kept at it and eventually was able to play something semi-pretty.
This is me playing the intro to Billy Joel’s song “Piano Man”:
And this is my attempt at playing “Silent Night”:
I don’t practice very often because I’m self-conscious of how loud I’m playing… but I really want to become good at playing the harmonica! My goal is to practice more and eventually play “Don’t Pass Me By” by The Beatles on the harmonica! I can technically do it but it’s super super slow and you can barely tell what song I’m playing!
I wanna be able to do it like this guy!!!!!
Or even…
A girl can dream! Heheheehe
Right now, I struggle playing single notes so I play “Bob Dylan” style (where you play more than one note at a time). But eventually I want to learn how to bend notes too.
It’s truly so much fun to play once you hear it sound the way you’re aiming for!
I’m gonna head back and practice more now!!!!
P.S. If you’d like to learn, I can help you! I’m no pro but I am fascinated and would totally be willing to help you.
